A long artisan history made of values and traditions
Over 80 years of activity, three generations of family management characterized by attention, research, quality of materials and collaborations in order to obtain a final product appreciated all over the world for its uniqueness, comfort and beauty. A long history in the world of handcrafted footwear made up of traditions and values recognized all over the world and which has seen families and important personalities who frequented and still frequent the village of Portofino pass through its laboratory.
The beginnings, Domenico called "Mingo"
Domenico Oneto known as "Mingo", a shoemaker by profession, began his activity in 1939 in Portofino in Via Roma 9 where, after 80 years, the activity continued by successive generations still resides today.
Mingo's great professionalism and recognized skills led him to be contacted during the war years by the German army, which at the time had its headquarters in Chiavari, to carry out the repair of their footwear, thus responding to an assignment demanding and of great prestige.
In the following years Mingo became increasingly appreciated among the gentlemen who at the time frequented the village of Portofino for his great ability in making sandals, clogs and footwear of the period. In addition to his talent for making handcrafted footwear, Mingo nurtured a great passion for sailing and when he could he regattad with those who from clients had also turned into deep acquaintances and friendships.
From children to grandchildren, up to the present day
On Domenico's death, which occurred at a young age, his wife Maria continued the commercial activity no longer with the creation of handcrafted footwear on site, but with the research and careful selection of the best Italian craftsmen for the resale of footwear and high quality sandals, with the intention of keeping alive the spirit and tradition with which her husband had started the business.
Together with Maria, over the years, her children Rita, Luisa and Giorgio and Mery's wife have taken over, who have continued to keep the family business alive by renewing and adapting the commercial proposal over the years, but always keeping the the level of quality, professionalism and collaborations.
Since January 2023 Marco, son of Giorgio and Mery, together with his wife have decided to further carry on the family tradition thus starting the third generation in the management of that business started in 1939 by grandfather "Mingo" pursuing his values of quality, professionalism and craftsmanship that distinguished him.
